NEW: SCAM BY TEXT MESSAGE
Sabine Federal Credit Union has become aware of another scam targeting ATM cards. Members are receiving a text message on their cell phones as follows: This is an automated message from Sabine FCU. Your ATM card has been suspended. To activate call urgent at 1888XXXXXXX. This is not legitimate and should not be responded to. Sabine Federal Credit Union does not use an automated service to contact our members about their ATM cards. If you have responded or given out any information about your account, please contact the credit union immediately. If you have any questions , please contact a member of our accounting department at 409-988-1300 or 1-888-319-7328. Thank you.
MONEY GIFT PACKS NOW AVAILABLE!
For the first time, Sabine Federal Credit Union is now offering money gift packs. The gift packs are brand new, sequential, crisp dollar bills. They have a glue strip binding holding them together where you can flip through them like a checkbook. They are available for purchase at the teller windows. We offer packs of 25 $1 bills and packs of 20 $5 bills. There is no fee to purchase the gift packs. Gift packs are available to members only.
THE MONEY MACHINE
Sabine Federal Credit Union now offers a Money Machine. The purpose of this machine is to cash unrolled coins. Once you pour in the coins to be redeemed, the machine will print a receipt with the total dollar amount. You will then take the receipt to a teller, and the teller will disburse the cash. The receipt has to be cashed on the same day it is printed. There is not a fee for members; however, non members will pay a 9% fee. The machine is located in the foyer of the credit union. PLEASE NO GLASS CONTAINERS.

SABINE FCU WARNS OF EMAIL SCAM
Sabine Federal Credit Union has become aware of a phishing scheme which has targeted some of our home banking members. The current scam is an email which notifies the member that they have successfully registered with the “Sabine FCU Homebanking application”. It will also provide a homebanking user id and a homebanking email address. The fraudulent email is sent from an email address which ends in @creditunion.com. This is not in any way affiliated with Sabine Federal Credit Union. Please do not respond to any unsolicited emails. If you have any questions, please contact a member of our accounting department at 409-988-1300 or 1-888-319-7328. Thank you.

We would like to inform our members to be aware of a recent scam. We have had a report of a member who received a telephone call from an automated service claiming there was suspicious activity on his Sabine Federal Credit Union account. The member was asked to key in his account number. This is NOT legitimate. Sabine Federal Credit Union does NOT use an automated service to contact a member about suspicious activity, and we would NEVER ask for an account number on a call we initiate. We have also been made aware of several phishing scams in which members are emailed from a fraudulent company posing as CUNA (Credit Union National Association), NCUA (National Credit Union Administration), Visa, Town North Bank, Verified by Visa, or even Sabine FCU. This email instructs recipients to "click here" to confirm your identity or acknowledge your account. The Credit Union and our associates will NEVER initiate emails soliciting your credit union account number, user name, password, PIN (personal identification number), credit card numbers or other personal identifying information. If you receive a similar email, do not reply. Delete it from your mailbox.
FEDERAL INSURANCE COVERS YOUR SAVINGS TO AT LEAST $250,000
Sound. Solid. Safe. No one has ever lost a penny of federally insured savings in a credit union. As not-for-profit cooperatives, owned and run for the benefit of members, credit unions have never been pressured to make risky investments. And deposits are federally insured to at least $250,000. Learn how federal insurance safeguards credit union deposits at www.ncua.gov. You may also find a very useful "Tool Kit" at http://www.ncua.gov/ShareInsurance/Index.htm.
NEW: SCAM BY TEXT MESSAGE
A few of our members have reported receiving text messages telling them that their account has been frozen and they should call a number for more information. This is not something that an employee of Sabine Federal Credit Union or any company affiliated with Sabine Federal Credit Union has sent. Please remember that you should NEVER, ever give any of your personal information including name, account number, card numbers, etc. to an unsolicited request.
